Find your voice
Sing three notes and we find the home note that fits your voice. Every tool in the lab then sings and plays in your key.
Three notes, about a minute.
Hum an easy note, then your lowest, then your highest. From your range we choose a home note (Sa) that fits your voice, and every tool tunes to it.
Why your own Sa matters
Every voice has a range where it sounds easy and full. Practise too high and you strain; too low and the notes go breathy. Choosing Sa (or Do) from your own range means every exercise, drone and scale in the lab sits where your voice is strongest, so you practise singing well instead of fighting your range.
How the test works
First you hum an easy note, the kind you would speak on. Then you slide down to the lowest note you can hold clearly, and up to the highest you can sing without straining. Each note counts once you hold it steady for a second and a half. Your home note is placed five notes above your lowest, so the low notes of the scale are your floor and the octave above is still in reach.
Warm up for a minute before the test and do it again in a few weeks: ranges grow with practice. Ready to use it? Enter the practice room.
